The Delicious International Food and Music Festival 2013

Amazing Stage
The Delicious international food and music festival is taking place this weekend in Johannesburg at the Blue Hills Equestrian Estate.Courtesy of You Magazine and Checkers SA I was fortunate to win double general admission tickets to this amazing festival held for the first time in South Africa.

Awesome Guitarist
*British acid jazz band Jamiroquai, who have sold more than 40 million albums worldwide are headlining the music side of the festival and performed yesterday evening and will again tonight. The South African lineup include Lira, Danny K, Khuli Chana, Prime Circle and Mi Casa.*

*The Delicious festival also brings the culinary talent of UK celebrity chefs Aldo Zilli, Ed Baines and John
Jay Kay not so skinny anymore
Burton Race who showcased yesterday  their signature dishes at their own pop-up restaurants.*

"This is a song that you haven't heard, from an album we haven't made yet, but you may like it, Its called Hey Flloyd", says Jay Kay, who over the years has become synonymous for his capacious style of wearing outlandish Hats.
His performance last night was nothing short of amazing.

You Give me Something
21 Years in the Music industry and still going strong, Kay may not be a "A skinny youth" anymore but his impressive performance and characteristically youthful onstage suave persona certainly indicate otherwise. I think one of the many aspects that make live performances great, particularly from artists of the same caliber as Jamiroquai is their authentic sound that easily time warps you back to the mid nineties that makes it more personal and memorable.

Reading their interview with Mail and Guardian on Friday, Jay says that not keeping relevant and fitting into a trendy genre is what has over the years allowed them to remain connected to their fans.

His stage set in most parts is brightly coloured with a massive projected screen in the background that plays to themes of the songs from the planetary solar system cutting to super cars racing each other through mountainous roads and desert landscapes to Jay being his unapologetic playboy self. The overhead lighting system was stunning acting as a colourful equaliser to the equally mind blowing sound system.

Cosmic girl
With so many hits over the years the crowd last night were in for treat with favourites like , "You give me something, Cosmic girl, Virtual Insanity, Deeper Underground, Feels just like it should, Little L and many more, the crowds energy was sustained throughout their performance leaving us begging for more

Mostly, though, the highlight for me at the delicious festival was Jamiroquai, Kay is a sharp and entertaining presence, giving all his fans what they wanted with his unique style of vintage funk. His

Still got the moves
band is slick, using the backup singers to great effect, I think that they are as relevant today as they were 21 years ago and still maintain their cosmically hypnotic style when performing anthems like Virtual Insanity (Which almost the entire audience sang along to) that remind you precisely why Kay has prospered for over two decades.

Thanks again to Checkers and You magazine for tickets to this amazing show, I look forward to adding this to my diary of favourite annual events.
