There are two major film festivals taking place between June and July spread across the country, The International Durban Film Festival and the 13th encounters film festival.
The 13th Encounters Film Festival
The Encounters festival showcases a variety of thought provoking documentaries and is currently taking place in Johannesburg and Cape Town. The Festival will not only showcase documentaries from local and international talent but will also present an extensive documentary producers workshop covering a variety of topics to assist pre-selected attendees with the nitty grittys of making and selling documentaries. The great thing about these festivals are the panel discussions that take place when you go to watch the featured movies on the bill. The guests speakers on the panel are appropriately chosen for the movie where viewers can engage the directors and specialists on the subject matter of the movies, this insightful conversation hereafter enriches your viewing experience ten fold and leaves a lasting impact on you.
